TWO PLUS TWO STILL EQUALS FOUR
By Dennis R. Smith

At the elementary level the young student soon learns that one plus one equals two and two plus two equals four. After this simple mathematic equation is learned, usually the first grader has the foundation laid for all other math problems of the future. How sad it is when we grow up and forget God’s simple advice. The child has always been an example for the adult in a world which is more complex (Matt. 18:3). The adult should remember to return to child-like attitudes for the best results in life. Listen as I paraphrase some of the simple “two plus two” suggestions that our Saviour gives to adults:   “Repent and be baptized” (Acts 2:38). “Confess me and I will confess you” (Matt. 10:32). “Give and I will give unto you” (Luke 6:38). “Seek first the kingdom of God” (Matt. 6:33). “I will not leave you or forsake you” (Heb. 13:5). “God will teach if we will learn” (John 6:45).  “Endure to the end and be saved” (Matt. 24:13). Worship God” (Rev. 22:9). These are just a few of the many simple commands which God offers to us and we have the choice of responding if we will. I often wonder how many thousands of dollars are spent by some who are seeking answers to their complex problems while all the time the answer is given in a simple God given equation of “two plus two equals four”.  Why don’t we let God answer our problems?
