 “THIS OLE HOUSE”

A few seasons ago one of the popular songs of the day was “This Ole House” by Stuart Hamblen.  The first and last lines of the chorus read like this: “I ain’t gonna need this house no longer.....I’m a-gettin’ ready to meet the saints.”  The Apostle Paul used the metaphor of a house to teach a lesson about our body.  “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2nd Cor. 5:1).  May I remind all our readers that, like the song, shouldn’t we be getting ready to meet the saints?  Again the words of the Apostle Paul match up with Hamblen’s song: “....behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2nd Cor. 6:2).  Think seriously my friends!   Not only should we be getting ready, meaning to face our Lord in judgment, but the importance of being ready NOW!  But, if you think I’m a little  off base with this analogy, let’s look at another scripture which uses the word “house” in the same sense.”   When the little man, Zacchaeus, came down from his sycamore tree and received Jesus joyfully confessing any wrong doing, Jesus said, “This day is salvation come to this house” (Luke 19:9).  Putting this all together, are we sure that “This Ole House” is today qualified for that heavenly house “not made with hands?”
