I want to propose a thought to you: You receive a letter in the mail from the president of the United States to attend a dinner. Now I know some might turn that down, but I would not. How often do you get to eat dinner with the leader of the free world? Suppose you get off the plane in Washington D.C. and there is a man holding up a sign with your name on it, waiting to drive you to the White House, and that man is the president. What would you think? You arrive at the White House, the president escorts you in personally, proceeds to take you jacket, escorts you to your seat, and begins to serve you dinner all by himself. What would go through your mind? It just wouldn’t seem right to us. In John 13, we find an example of serving others through Jesus washing his disciples’ feet. If you haven’t read the story, or even if you have, I encourage you to take the time to read it this week. Our King was not only serving but he was doing the one job that everyone despised, washing nasty, gross and dirty feet! Jesus gave us the ultimate example of serving others. Are we following it?? This week make it a point to serve a loved one and a stranger.
